Painting the face it always difficult. Once the paint is on the fabric you can't remove it. It has to be perfect right from the beginning. But I think I did a good job this time.
Another hair experiment.
The hair is glued to the head, cut to the right lenght and perfectly arranged. You want to know why it stays in place like that?
Giggle, rollers and lots of hairspray of course.

Playing with hairlength was fun. Wouldn't he look good with long hair, too? The problem this time, you won't believe it, was finding the right color. Come on, it shouldn't be too difficult to find a yarn in honeyblond, should it? Well, it was!
After running around from shop to shop, harrassing shop assistents and looking for it for weeks I finally found the perfect yarn. And those glasses are so cool, aren't they?
Long coat made from a dark blue wool fabric.
The white cross pattern is made from a small white satin ribbon.
And finally the boots. Clothes are finished, now I can concentrate on the head.

Another day another plushie. I used the same pattern as for the Nekomimis but I enlarged the body, the arms and the legs.
The shirt gave me some problems. Luckily I found an old magazine with patterns for doll clothes. I only had to change the collar of that pattern and the cuffs to fit him. But sewing those little cuffs with the sewing machine is not funny!
Can't have Youji without boxers, right?
Lol, that is my cat Banshee, he always insists on checking whatever I am making.
Warm trousers made from a dark grey wool. Oh, did I mention that I am so happy that I bought that doll stand?

No longer cold feet. Those boots will keep his feet warm.
I painted the wingclaws brown and black and then finished them with a clear coat.
Dry and nice I glued them on top of the wings.
This is how he looks complete from head to toe. Did I mention that I bought a dollstand? I am soooo happy that I did. Look how cool he looks standing there with his fighting pole.

Wings

I finally made the wings. They were made in the same technik like the golden angel. Put fabric between two layers of soluvlies and stitch the outline and inner structure with the sewing machine.
I used simple sewing yarn this time, a dark brown as in contrast to the shimmering material of the wings. Believe me when I say that I had a hard time to push those wings through the slit in the back of the jacket. And that means, yes, those wings are attached to the body and not sewn to the jacket.
I like the ways those different browns effect each other.
I wanted the wings to look more demonic this time. That is why I made those curves at the underside of the wings.
This time I wanted those wings to have claws. My problem, I am not much of a sculpture. The material I used for those wingclaws is very light, not very sticky, which is why I could form those claws directly on the wings without having to be afraid to soil them. On the other side I wish that material would have been a bit more sticky because it doesn't stick to the wings at all. Oh well, I let it dry for the next day or two. Then they will get some paint and I hope I can glue them in place. Now I have to make those boots and finally the rest of the armor.

Armor

If you are a craft nuts like me, you know that you can find materials anywhere. See that nice shawl? Doesn't it look good on that white blouse? Well, I saw it and thought "Scale male!" and bought it right away. And just to be on the safe side, I bought one in black too. Too sad they didn't had one in blue or white.
At home I had to see if I was right and drapped the shawl around the demonic angel of Earth. And what can I say, I love it.
The sewing was easy. I measured the complete length from front to back and then sew the edges together to make a poncho with a hole in the middle. I sew it such that the shawl ends with the fringes are in the back.
OH, I baught a simple dollstand. Now I can arrange my dolls for taking pictures much easier. And see, those hands can really hold things.

Just Finished

This is the Quiver and Arrows for the Golden Angel. The Quiver is made from board, cut and glued to form a quiver. Then I used double-sided sticky tape to cover it completly and then covered it with the material. For the ribbon I cut slits in the back of the finished quiver.
The arrows are made from toothpicks. I cut the "feathers" from board and glude them to one end. After that I used gold spraypaint. Now I still have to make a longbow and the Golden Angel is finally finished.
This is the fighting staff for my Angel of Earth. Using a round wood pole, some yarn spools, left over christmas cord, lots of metalic perls, metalic colors and lots of hot-glue. And yes, I burned my fingers a lot using it.
Please admire the detailed work. Next thing I am working on will be the armor and the wings.

Dressing up: Continued

Here is the jacket. I am astonished the the fabric structure shows so well on the pic.
I used fake leatherstrips to make those loops. First I thought about just putting strips on the front, so that the jacket would be closed by knot and bow, but, no really, no, that wouldn't have matched a wild and dangerous demonic Angel of Earth.
The jacket has a high colar and long sleeves. I am still not certain wether to leave the sleeves as they are or put a ribon at the wrist and draw it together to make it bunch around the wrist. But for the moment, it is fine as it is.
And this is what he looks like with the fur waistcoat over the jacket. I descovered that I shoud have made the armholes a little bit bigger, but it isn't too bad.
As a worrior angel he has to have an armor. These ovals were part of a belt which I cut appart. I will attach them new with fake the same fake leather strips I used for the jacket and hopefully it will look like an armor in the end.
This is just a test, not the finished armor. It really does look like a kind of breastcover, but isn't big enough to really protect him. Got to work on it a bit more.

Dressing up an Angel of Earth

How to dress an Angel of Earth? Well, with lots of browns and furs and leather. After searching through boxes and boxes of fabric and material and some more shopping I came up with a lot of different materials and fabric. Some are shining, some are dull, soft and fury or rough. I even got some really soft leather. From left to right: brown velvet, fake fur print, a cream colored loose woven fabric, dark brown taft, another fur print, teddyplush and real leather which is very soft.

First material I choose was for making trousers. I wanted them to look a bit like harem pants, so I had to choose a soft and shining material. See, dark brown taft is perfect for this.
After putting an elastic both in the waist and at the ankle of the trousers it does look like a kind of harem pants.
But only pants is not enough. And I have so much materials and fabrics left to use. So I decided that he will have something made from the fur print. And what better than to give him a long sleeevles waistcoat?
This is what he looks like at the moment. The next clothes I make is going to be a shirt. Though I am not certain what to use for it. The cream colored fabric that looks like something homespun and homewoven or the leather? Better to sleep over it.
But I am absolutly certain that he will get boots made from that teddy plush!

Angel of Earth

This will become the second of those six angels I have planned to make. This one will be the angel of Earth, wild, untamed and dangerous.
To make him look the part I thought to use real fur for the hair and bought some sheepfur with really long tresses. It looks so good and wild and untamed and has never seen a brush or a comb. Perfect material I thought. But sadly, my friend who I make this angels for, is allergic to wool. So I had to search for different material for the hair.
See this? It is some longhaird mohair plush. I glued it to the head and used the glue and hairspray to style it. Not as good as the fur would have been, but it will do.

Close up of the face. I am afraid the mouth became a bit to feminin for a male angel. But his eyes shine really cool red with that glitter I used.

Golden Angel part three

These pics are taken with my new digicam and show the golden Angel in all his glory. Please note the details of the wings. The pattern was stitched with my sewing machine free hand.

Here you can see how the wings come out through slits in the back of the clothes. Theoretically you can undress him. But I wouldn't recomend it.

All that is missing his his bow and a quiver and arrows.

Inumimi

Now Inumimi has her own cardigan, it just took me a while to make one. Sadly the first one doesn't fit proberly, it is a bit to big for her. So I made another one.

The new one looks much better. It has an hole pattern which looks much nicer than the simple one of the first cardigan. The only thing missing are the buttons and buttonholes.
Isn't she looking cute?

Finally, I have a digicam of my own!!!!! What a difference it makes, just look at the pics. For the first time using my new digicam I am quite proud of them. Still have to get used to all those symbols in the display and figuring out how to use the flash and such, BUT, I have a new digicam!!!!

Shoulderanimal

Do you know Shoulderdragons? Well, this is a shoulderrat. It is made from grey fleece and her eyes are buttons. She is stuffed with a plastik granulate which gives her weight and still makes her flexible enough so that she can sit on the shoulder. I am looking for more ideas for shoulderanimals. Any suggestions?

Inumimi

Two cat-girls might be enough for the moment. Looking through various boxes of material I found this dalmatian fake fur and spontaniously desided to try making a Inumimi. Inu = Dog. See: she has dog ears.

It wasn't easy to attach the ears to the head this time, because the hair had to continue under the ears.

It is no problem with catears which are sitting lengthwise on the side of the head. But dogears are sitting in the other direction, across the side of the head.

So, when I would have first sewn the ears to the head, she would have been bald under the ears because the hair would have gone over the ears but not under them.

Therefore I first glued the hair to the head and then sew the ears on top of it.

I am busy and see, now Inumini has a white satin dress with lace at the seam and at the neckline. Sigh, I really really wish I had a better way to take pic expect the webcam...

Neko-girl 2

Looks as if I am becoming obsessed with making nekos, giggle. Well, I love cats, what is there more to say?

She has light blue eyes and dark brown hair made from yarn.

Her ears and tail are made from a very dark brown plush.
This neko too is wearing boxers like the first one. Her dress is made from a pink cotton print with little blue and white flowers.
Currently I am working on her knitted cardigan. It will be light blue.

The boots and gloves are made from a plush animal print. Must be somthing catlike with dots, lol.

If you are interested in ordering a special one, let me know. I am planning on selling this neko anyway.

See, she even got a knitted cardigan, too.

Neko-girl

Did I mention that I have two Cats who I adore a lot? Well, I found a pattern for nekomimis on my favourite website. It is the same website where I found the pattern for my golden angel.

She is wearing gloves and boots from the same material as her ears. It is fake fur imitating some kind of cat. I don't know whether is is jaguar or cheeta, but it looks cute on her.

OH, not to forget. As a nekomimi she really has to have a tail. I put a piece of wire inside so that I can arrange it differently. Her hair is made from brown wool.
She is wearing boxer short with a special tail hole in the back.

I made her a short dress which is closed in the back.

It is a green cotton print. The colored spots you see on the pic are little crayons.

It is cold outside. I didn't want her to freeze. Therefore she got a cardigan to keep her warm.

I am feeling creative, running low on material but still, I had to make another one.

Black dress, eyes with silver glitter, stockings made from white and silver lace. Hair is black and white wool and I put a huge bow made from silver netting on top. Over her black velvet dress she is wearing another made from grey organza. To cover the shoulder seam I sew a long piece of black lace to the seam which is hanging down freely.

A friend of mine suggested that I should try to make a goth doll. They are also called living death doll. Look it up in the net if you are interested in the subject. Here is what I made so far.

Character and sewing pattern are completly my own creation.

And yes, it is webcam pic again.

She has stockings made from lace. No idea what kind of dress and hairstyle she will get at the moment. I thought about giving her black and red hair. And maybe a tight red dress?

Red Dress, yes, with golden print.

Necktie with a black Star and red and black hair made from yarn.

Finished? I don't know, maybe some gloves? Or maybe a veil?

I made some more "decoration". First eyebrows with red glitter. Hmmm, I really need a digicam. The webcam doesn't catch that sparkle.

I made her gloves from the same lace as for the stocking. And yes, I made a veil, too.

Weddingday

This is my first comission. A friend of mine asked for a boy and a girl, dressed in similar clothes like her husband and herself at their weddingday. And yes, they really got married in black, sigh. And as original characters I have no problems with copyright and selling those two.

Again I have to apologise for the poor picture quality, I still don't have a digicam.

Golden Angel part two

He is finished. He has WINGS!!!
The pictures aren't the best, I had to use my webcam again but there will be better pics as soon as my friend Petra has time to take them.

The wings are made from some really nice thin material. I wanted to give them some structure and thought about stitching lines on them.

I used a special material to help with the stitching which is called "Soluflies". It is a vlies that vanishes when you put it in cold water.
So, I put the golden material between two layers of soluvlies and then used the sewing machine to stitch lines and structures.

Those clawlike things on the tip of the wings are "Nestelspitzen", sorry, I don't know the english word for that. They are made from metal and used for decoration on the ends of strings.

Golden Angel

This is my current projekt, the most complicated doll I have made so far. And YES, those are fingers you see. There is wire in each finger so that the doll can really hold things in its hands.

I used flower hair, which is a decoration material, for the hair. It is glued and stitched to the head. I used the special eye color for the eyes again and some golden and a lot of red glitter for the eyes.

YES, RED glitter.

This is a portrait shot of the face. Please notice the red eyes. I found the inspiration for this doll with a story of a friend of mine. Something about demonic angels and the fight of good and bad, darkness and light. And because of the demonic background those six have red eyes.

There are six demonic angels. Guess what is on my scedule once I have finished him?

He is the golden angel, still missing his wings but at least I managed to make a bow.

The bow was made from Fimo.

Fimo is a material you can knead and model and is then put in the oven to harden. After that I sprayed it with gold-color. It still needs a clear coat to secure the color.

As you can see, those hands really are able to hold things.

The Golden Angel is wearing very loose and wide pants and a kind of wrap-around-jacket in a slightly chinese style. The clothes aren't completed yet, I made a long coat with long elegant sleeves and a huge hood too. But they weren't finished when my friend Petra (thank you darling, you are the greatest!!!) came to make these pictures.

The patterns for the body and other absolutly stunning dolls can be found when you klick on the headline "THIRD". Check the site out, it really is an inspiration to every dollmaker. But be warned, the patterns on that site mostly are for advanced doll makers.

The patterns for the clothes are my own. Making clothes' patterns is hard work, but with every new piece my collection grows and grows and grows.

There will be more pics when I have made those wings....sigh, how to make wings????

And I really not only have to give thanks to my dear friend Petra for taking pictures but for Achim as well. Because he drew that pic which gave me the final push to start making this doll.
And yes, he drew pictures of all six demonic angels!!! THANK YOU!!!

Note to self: Using Fimo for sculptured things like the bow wasn't a good idea. I tried to rearange it a bit and accidently broke it in two halves. Looks as if I have to make a new one from a different material now. Maybe I really should try to make one from wood?

Crawford

This plushie is Crawford from the Anime Weiß Kreuz. The pictures aren't that good, because my friend who made the other pics with her digicam didn't had time. Therefore I had to use the webcam. Sorry about the poor qualitiy.

Crawford is now living with a good friend of mine. And he is well loved and gets cuddled a lot....giggle.

The body is sewn like the first doll, except for the ears. I sew them seperatly and then sew them to the head. The glasses are made from wire. And the clothes are completly removable and have real buttons and real buttonholes. Again I painted the eyes but this time without glitter.

I don't have the copyright for Animeplushies, so sadly I can't do any Animeplushies for selling. Therefore I can't take orders for making one.

Okay, this blog is about me, my hobbies and most important, about my dolls and plushies. This is the one I made for a friend of mine. The pic to the left shows her Avatar she is using and which she created herself.
I think the doll looks a lot like here Avatar. What do you think?

The original pattern for the body is from "The Rag Doll Handbook" from Ana Lakeland if you are interested in makeing a doll yourself. I changed the pattern a little and didn't follow her instructions completly.

Here you can see some stages of the making. After sewing the pieces together the doll looks rather ... flat...giggle

Filled with polyester wool and sewn together it looks a lot more like a doll, right?

As you might notice, I painted the eyes. I used special doll-eyecolors in blue and some blue glitter to make them shine. The hair is made from yarn, which I glued to the head.

The clothes are made from velvet (a flexible one, I only know the german word Pannesamt for it). Making clothes takes a lot of time, especially when you want to make original clothes and don't have patterns. Don't make the mistake and sew the first attempt out of the original material. Better use some scraps because mostly the first set doesn't fit like you want it too. I learned that the hard way. I still feel sorry for wasting that piece of white satin.
